The
Photographer

I’m Jacqui — a photographer, a storyteller, and someone who understands just how precious ordinary moments can be.

Life shaped my view of photography long before I ever picked up a camera professionally. I grew up in a small family, raised largely by my mum after losing my father when I was young. I became a mother myself very early, and much of my life has been about holding onto fleeting moments while life moved quickly around me.

Like many people, I wish I had more photographs from those early years — more everyday moments preserved, more quiet memories made tangible. That absence has stayed with me, and it’s one of the reasons I do what I do now. Photography, for me, isn’t about perfection or trends; it’s about honouring the people we love and the time we have with them.

Today, I specialise in fine art portraiture, creating timeless, emotive images that focus on connection, character, and story. My work leans toward dramatic black and white portraits, painterly tones, and thoughtful compositions — photographs designed to be lived with, not lost to phone galleries or passing feeds.

I run my studio from my home in Stevenston, North Ayrshire. It’s a calm, personal space where sessions are unhurried and considered. I photograph fewer clients so I can give each one the time and attention their story deserves. If you’re looking for fast, high-volume photography, I may not be the right fit — but if you value artistry, intention, and meaningful images, you’ll feel very much at home.

I am what I am — warm, honest, quietly determined, and deeply invested in the people I photograph. I believe photography should feel personal, not transactional, and that the most powerful portraits come from trust, patience, and genuine connection.

Because if life has taught me anything, it’s that moments aren’t guaranteed — and the ones that matter most deserve to be remembered.

The Studio

My studio is a bit like me; a small but practical work in progress! I gave up the high street studio in 2021 and chose to be closer to home. I now work in a cosier environment with a bigger seating area for the parents to get comfy while the wee ones are being photographed.
