A New Era in My Photography Journey

For the last five years, my little business has been filled with colour, confetti, and cake. They were happy years — a little chaotic at times, and very much a learning experience. Those chapters in my story helped me grow and gain confidence, not only as a photographer, but as a person too.
To everyone who supported me during that chapter — whether you booked a session, shared my work, or simply cheered me on from the sidelines — please know how deeply grateful I am. I literally wouldn’t be where I am today without you.
As I approach my 54th birthday, I’ve found myself reflecting on where I’ve been, where I am, and where I want to go next. With age comes clarity, and one thing has become unmistakably clear: if I am to keep this business going in a way that feels true and sustainable for me, I need to focus on where my passion truly lies — fine art portraiture and composites/montages.
I’ve been on this photography journey for almost eleven years now, and when I look back at my earliest work — when photography was purely about curiosity and learning — my best work was definitely in the fine art genre. From classical black and white portraits to themed, storytelling sessions (like Malice in Wonderland — remind me to tell you about that one if you enjoy the darker side of life), those images came straight from the heart.
I’ve come to realise that dramatic black and white portraits, and painterly, emotive colour work, hold more soul for me. They honour connection, emotion, and the quiet beauty of family togetherness. Simply put, these are the images that make me feel alive as a creative and proud of the work I produce.
So, I’ve made a decision.
I’m rebranding my business to focus primarily on fine art portraiture. This means stepping away from the more “cheap and cheerful” mini sessions — work that, while fun at the time, no longer reflects the artist I’ve grown into or the value I want to offer. I want to create portraits that are meant to be treasured: images that feel like heirlooms, not hurried snapshots.
I hope that many of you who’ve supported me from the beginning will continue to walk alongside me as I step into this new chapter. My style may be evolving, but my commitment to creating heartfelt, meaningful images remains exactly the same.
Thank you for being part of the journey so far. I’m excited, nervous, and deeply inspired by the road ahead. Here’s to growth, to passion, and to creating fine art portraits for moments that matter — you’re going to hear me say that a lot from now on. 🤍
